Re-purpose an old canvas print

Re-purpose an old canvas print!

What you’ll need:

1) An old canvas print. Mine is one that I already had, but the Goodwill or any thrift store is a GREAT place to find them!

2) Acrylic paint in the color of your choice. I chose white and turquoise.

3) Paint brushes.

4) Painters tape…or I used some washi tape that I had lying around!

I liked the original canvas print {it was something we got from a grandparent} but it doesn’t match the style of our house anymore. So instead of donating or getting rid of it…I decided to change it up! Plus I love the frame, and I wanted to keep that part the same.

I had to do a few coats of the white paint. As you can see {above}, the first coat of white didn’t fully cover up the print underneath!

Then, wait for the white to fully dry!

Next, I grabbed some washi tape that I don’t really use and created my arrows. I borrowed some ideas from Pinterest for the 2 different styles of arrows.

{FYI- Washi tape was actually nice because it removes so easily from the canvas so I could fix, adjust and get the tape just how I wanted it.}

Grab that second color acrylic paint and paint over the entire canvas! Again, I had to do a few coats to get that turquoise to really stand out.

Here’s the finished product hanging up in our living room! I absolutely love the way it turned out.

Let me know if you try out this fun little DIY project!
