My love for makeup began when I was little. I think I probably inherited it from my mom. She was a model in high school and in her earlier 20’s – and she loves makeup just as much as I do. She said at 15 years old she got a job and started saving every penny to go toward makeup. Back then, she loved Estee Lauder,  Lancome, Shiseido and Clinique (still all great brands today!)

Today, my favorite “Department Store” brands are Benefit, MAC, Too-Faced, Nars and many more.

I hope you all don’t think I’m a fraud for admitting this, or that I’ve {gasp}…turned my back on drug store makeup {NEVER!!!} – but honestly, some higher end makeup is hard {or impossible} to duplicate.

Here are some of my very favorite, higher-end makeup products.

1) Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara

$23

My lashes with and without They’re Real Mascara

I got a sample tube of this stuff a while back and was immediately hooked. It only comes in one color, Jet Black. It does everything you want a mascara to do. It lifts, curls, darkens, lengthens, stays on all day, doesn’t flake…and the list goes on. Usually I have to combine a few different mascara’s to get those sort of results. I’ve said before that I have heavy, hooded eye lids – so even though I do have long lashes, you can’t tell because of my lids. This stuff makes my eyelashes ridiculously long and really stand out. I look refreshed, awake and “doe-eyed” when I wear it.

At $23, it is a little pricey but if you think about how you would need to buy a combination of a few drug store mascara’s to get the same looking lashes (at $8 or $9 a pop) – it actually is very worth the price.

2) Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation

$37

My sister-in-law, Corie {check out her blog! corieclark.com} introduced me to this foundation a few years ago. At $37 bucks a bottle, it’s not cheap by any means. But it is pure heaven. This is probably the best foundation I have ever used. It’s a got a creamy, smooth and super blend-able feel to it. And NO JOKE people, this stuff won’t budge. All. Day. Long. That was the biggest seller for me. I would look in the mirror at night, and my makeup would still look the exact same way it did when I applied it that morning! I only bought it a couple times {because of the guilt that came along with the price tag!} but I dream of the day when I can afford this foundation again!

3) Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

$20

I got the 2013 Sephora Superstar kit this year for Christmas. It contains all the top selling products for the year. This Stila eyeliner was one of the items in the kit.

Like I’ve said, with my hooded eyelids – I will apply eyeliner…and then open my eyes…and BOOM no matter how long I let that puppy dry, there is always a black line on my upper lid. If not right away, at some point during the day a black line will appear. Every eyeliner I’ve tried, rubs off and looks like a hot mess by about lunch time.

Not this time. This is the holy grail of liquid eyeliners. The tip makes you feel like you’re using a long skinny felt tip marker, so you have maximum control when applying the line. The tip is so fine, that it makes the PERFECT cat eye every time! And, wouldn’t ya know…it stays put like no other. No black crease line on my upper lid! Yippee!!

4) M.A.C Lipglass in Clear

M.A.C-Clear-Lipglass

$15

This has been my favorite lipgloss since High School.

It is crazy shiny, and is a super thick formula so it lasts for hours. It really does look like glass on your lips! I love this stuff because its perfect by itself, or on top of ANY color to give your lipstick a beautiful shine. I still haven’t found another clear gloss that is as rich or lasts as long as MAC’s does. It will always have a special place in my heart!

Of course, with all of these higher-end products, I am ALWAYS on the hunt for a dupe.

I would be so stoked to find a rival for all of these products in the drug stores!

What “higher-end” makeup can you NOT live without? I’d love to know!

I love the “They’re real” Mascara!!! Its the best! Now that I work at a spa and do lash extensions, as well as receive them… I don’t need it anymore, but I always recommend that as an alternative to the lash extensions, definitely the next best thing 🙂 I also love love love makeup forevers Aqua Brow! Stays all day and isn’t cakey like powder and wax fillers, I think its 20 dollars but lasts forever. I use the smallest drop and apply it with an angle brush.

I have yet to try these products! If you say they’re amazing, I’ll have to try them out. (: I can’t live without Origins “Quick! Hide” Concealer. It does miracles for dark circles under the eyes & blemishes! And it lasts all day. It’s the best concealer I’ve ever tried.

Awesome! Let me know if you try any of them. I’m gonna google that Origins Concealer right now! I love suggestions for good concealers. I have dark circles under my eyes that need some good coverage! XO
